Theme Change

Me and Ella decided to change our theme, from being quite dark and edgy to more of a fun, teen and up beat kind of style. We are doing this to show the fun you have at 17 and actually how great life is. The reason why we are moving away from the edgy style is because we did not want to make it look depressing and therefore not be relate able and aspiring for viewers and instead we wanted our video to be something which you could really enjoy watching.

AVA interview

Here is the interview which me and Ella did. We did it so that the viewer can have more of an understanding of what AVA is actually like. However, it is clear that the video is not perfect because of the camera being shown in a lot of the shots, and the place where it is filmed looking quite armature. However we did this to make it look down to earth and chilled out.

Tour poster

Above is the tour poster which we have made for AVA, we used cross media synergy to link this to our other products, as we have used the yellow colour, as well as the same layout of tours on the website. We have also used that photo on our digipak, this therefore creates good cross media synergy.

Brain storm

Seeing as we decided to change the theme we thought it would be a good idea to have another brainstorm and come up with new ideas. The picture inserted is the ideas which we came up with including things such as clothing and locations.

Theme change

We decided to change our theme of our music video to a more urban city seventeen girl and show the cool, hipster side in how a modern city person has fun with her friends. We are doing this as we want it to be edgy style which the viewers will think how much of a cool exciting life our character lives which will be portrayed throughout the music video.

Magazine cover

Here is the first draft for the magazine cover, I really love how this looks. However I do not think that we will use that picture for the actual one as the photos need to be updated to create a more edgy look compared to what it is now.

Album cover

This is the final edit of what the front of our album cover will look like. It matches our target audience and the theme we are going for.

Digipak ideas

Powered by emaze
Above is the ideas which we came up with for our digipak, we are thinking of changing the ideas of our digipak so this will not be the final plan.

Digi pak first plan

This is our first design of my digi-pak which we presented to the class for the half-way evaluation. I received very good feedback from my classmates and since then we as a group have decided to change the whole entire theme of our artist. We have gone from being a girly pop singer to a grungy urban alternative R&B singer. This basic digi-pak no longer fits our theme so I have been working on a new digi-pak which I know will match our theme while being fresh and original.

Font research

Ella and I wanted to find the perfect font to put across on all of our artist brand, We thought that Calibri (body) was best for our image as it was simplistic and easy to the eye to see.

Website screenshots

Home page
To the left is a screenshot of what the homepage of the website looks like so far, I really like all of the diamonds which are on the page as it looks different. I think it is good that we have stuck to the theme which we chose of quite plain colours which mainly includes blue, white and black.

Gallery
Here is the gallery page, we have included a lot of the photos which we took in the photo-shoot. Once we have done more photos I will add them to this page so it looks more full up and will look even better.

Logo ideas number 2

To the left I have created four new logo ideas, I think that the one at the top is my favourite logo, however I do not think that it necessarily looks like a logo and instead could look like an album cover. I therefore think that the best and most appropriate one which could be used as a logo would be the third one down. I really like the idea of using triangles because the name AVA tends to fit a triangle quite easily. I also think that we should use the colour lilac, grey and black because it fits in with the website we have made as well as the colours we chose to use throughout all of our work.

Draft of music video

Above is a draft of the music video which we have done so far. There is a lot of work which needs to be done, but we have made a good start.

Teacher feedback

Feedback given by Mrs Brookes, for our music video so far:
- Tweek some of the lip sync
- Colour and contrast needs to be tweeked in some areas - especially San Fran shots
- Performance good but get some different sized shots
- Don't understand the bus shots
- Love the shot on the swing
- Wonder if you could be together in some of the shots, because otherwise see no connection. Maybe could be a sleepover or there could be some sort of friendly break up
- Many more fun shots, should the performance be serious and the narrative be fun?
Contrast between the performance and the narrative in the colours

Moodboard

Above is the moodboard for the idea which I am currently planning on doing for my music video.

Website

Above are screenshots from the website which I have made so far, I think that it all looks really good. However there is still a lot on the website which needs to be completed.

Biography

Ava was born in Chelmsford, Essex in 1996 and had always loved singing since she was a young age. However, although she was a born singer and performer she never got the chance to perform professionally until a lot later on in her life, and the only opportunity which she would have to perform in an audience was in her school plays at primary and high school. Ava gained most of her fame from the YouTube videos which she posted of herself singing regularly, in which she would post videos of herself singing covers to songs, as well as performing some of her own songs which she created herself. Ava had her account for over three years until the popularity started to build up, and after the build-up occurred she got spotted by a production company which she was quick to accept.
Early Years
Ava was born on the 28th August in Chelmsford in Essex and was born to two very normal strict parents. Both her Mother and Father worked in an office job in London during her childhood and she was brought up as an only child with a high expectation from her parents to succeed in her life and do something which was appropriate to what they believed she should be doing, for example following their lead and going into an office job like them. However, although she had high expectations, this gave her more ambition to do what she wanted to do with her life and make her own decisions and do her own things. Her only supporter was her grandma who believed that she could be whatever she wanted to do, and after listening to Ava speaking about her wishes of making it as a musician, her Nan was quick to buy her a guitar for her seventh birthday. Ava began to have guitar lessons for a short while, thinking that this could be what she would like to pursue in her future, but however then realised that her real passion was for singing and not for playing a musical instrument. She would then constantly go to her grandmothers and perform her own songs to her as though she was filming in the 02 with thousands of people watching her.
She has brought out a whole album, called Seventeen, and is now bringing out a music video for her favourite song on the album called ‘Seventeen’ like the album name.

Outfit plan

Bottoms
For the bottoms which I will be wearing I will wear different things, some examples of these would be ripped jeans or a leather skirt. I think that leather skirts look really edgy and cool and are very high in trend at the moment, seeing as I am trying to be a role model I want to appeal to people of my generation, which means I should be keeping up with the current trend.
Tops
The colour kharki is very in at the moment and looks very recent, and the colour suits me well, therefore I will try to wear this colour. I also like the fact the top is baggy making it look simple. The black is also very trendy and goes with almost anything making it easy to wear within my video.

Shoes
I have these shoes and I think that they look very edgy and hipster, therefore I have worn them when I have been filming my music video.

Props list

Glitter
Black curtain
Green screen
Microphone
Phone and headphones to show age
Speaker
Lights
Edgy clothing
Chair to possibly do seated singing

Glitter plan

Me and Ella ordered six packets of this glitter in three different colours, the reason we did this is because we thought that it would be a really cool idea to throw glitter over me when I am performing the song. We will try this in different colours and see what looks most effective!

Script for interview

I: Who are you and what do you do?
A: My names Ava and I am (hopefully, laugh) an upcoming singer!

I: Why do you do what you do?
A: I do what I do as I have a pure passion for showing my emotions and feelings through singing. This is shown through my first single which is called ‘seventeen’ and it is all about the simpler times and when I was still finding myself.

How do you work?
A: I work great with my crew and band as we started off as friends and grown together in ways which I can’t explain!! I also have a fan base called then Aviators who truly amazing, they come to all my shows, tweet me and support me, I love them so much.
I: What’s your background?
A: I am originally from Essex, no I am not the stereotype like everyone thinks and then when I turned 18 I moved to London, Greenwich to pursue my singing career.

I: What’s integral to the work of an artist?
A:  I would say the most important thing about being an artist it is essential for a sense of completeness.  The process of how things were originally apart and initially separate in some way join together to form a bigger, more solid thing. Exploring and finding more things with your voice is truly amazing and motivates me every day. It is the one thing that did keep me singing and perusing my career.

I: What has been a seminal experience?
A: Ooo I’d say there have been two major experiences which I would say are truly memorable. The first one would have to be when I was chosen for the ‘British breakthrough act’ at the Brits, which really did prove how the hard myself and team have been working to get noticed and for people to like my song. The other seminal moment is when I went onto BBC radio 1 and the live lounge! I loved every moment of it and every cover I did…. If you didn’t get a chance to see or hear it, it is currently available on Catch-up and YouTube.

I: What other artists do you most identify yourself most with?
A: I would like to think that myself and Jess Gylnne are very similar as it is not only about having mad vocals but also having some fun with our voices and music videos!! I like her simplicity but also how she likes to put on a show at the same time without coming away from the singing.

I: Describe a real-life situation that inspired you?
A: I know I have already mentioned it but ‘Seventeen’ did truly inspire me as it is a weird age which no one warns you about and honestly you find out all about yourself which is pretty cool. Id say it’s the last age you get to still be a child and make major mistakes but it also teaches you to work on your friendships and relationships. Especially with your parents and friends as they are the ones which will have your back.

What’s your most embarrassing moment?
Haha. Ha my most embarrassing moment is when I’d just finished recording haha and like a typically teenager I was on my phone and wasn’t looking where I was going so I went smack into a glass door and passed out for a while. So when I woke up to around 10 people around me trying to wake me up you could say that is very embarrassing.

What jobs have you done other than being an artist?
Erm because I am still young I have only done weekend jobs, one of these being I have work in Costa Coffee but I kept being told off for singing too much ahaha,
Thank you very much for the interview Ava its been a pleasure! Best of luck
Thank you, you  too.
